Bullied, shamed, told to lose weight and denied opportunities because of their weight, different plus-size women in the world have resolved to give society and its judgmental nonsense the middle finger and thrive regardless. You see, these women have been dragged through social media and back, and they could have opted for a plastic surgery, just so they could fit into the definition of what society said is beauty.
Here are a few of these women who thrived amidst the judgment, bullying and insults:
- Chrissy Metz:
You see, Hollywood has to be one of the places with the most body-shaming stories. Chrissy wanted to go into movies because she is talented, but she was asked to lose weight. She dropped a few pounds, but apparently, it was not enough. They must have needed someone as slim as those ladies on Vogue’s cover. Well, Chrissy decided not to lose any more weight. She eventually got to star in the movie This is us and wrote a bestseller titled This is me. Take that, Hollywood!
- Kate Winslet:
The beloved actress of Titanic has suffered body shaming because she was big and had big feet. Magazines have attempted to photoshop her to make her look smaller in photos. Kate refuses to be photoshopped into something that does not look like her. So she sticks to her look and goes on to talk on self-acceptance and self-love. She has an Oscar to her name. I wonder what her body shamers think of that.
- Demi Lovato:
This Disney star landed in rehab because she was body-shamed so much for being fat. She started skipping food. She ended up with an eating disorder for which she eventually needed to get treatment. She is done and over that right now, and she has moved on. She now owns her body and ignores people who seem to have an opinion that is not needed.
- Gabourey Sidibe:
You might remember her from Empire. She understands that she is always going to be body shamed for looking the way she does. So she makes sure she has the perfect clap backs, always.
- Mindy Kaling:
Yet another beautiful actress who blind people decided to go after because she was big. Well, she didn’t pay so much attention to them. You might remember her from the movie Ocean 8. After being rejected for a show because of her size, she went on and wrote her own, which came out successful.
